Let me first start off by saying that Thai Elephant has the best customer service ever. It was a Friday night and we came from Atlanta to Destin. We were famished. Since Thai Elephant wasn't far from the condo, we decided to eat there. We had a party of 10. It was 8:45 pm. It close at 9 pm. We asked the waiter was it okay for us to eat and order. He checked with the kitchen staff and they were fine with us sitting down and ordering. I was so happy because I didn't want to try to find another place to eat since we haven't eaten anything. Inside was decorated nicely. The menu had a variety of Thai dishes. I ordered my usual Drunken Noodles, Thai Hot. Let me tell you, it was Thai hot. I love it when I don't have to ask for more peppers in my plate. The flavors and spices were on point. My daughter got the Panang Shrimp and it was so yummy, I almost wanted us to trade. My daughter's friend's beef larb was a bit more liquidy than it's supposed to look, usually larb doesn't have any juices but she said it tasted good. My hubby had the Pad Thai, he said it was good but his shrimp should've been cooked more. My mom had Pad See U and was a little disappointed, she said it tasted better back home in Atlanta. I don't remember my brother and his family's dishes but they all enjoyed it. All I can say is I thought I had a great experience and would come back again. We stayed for a little over an hour and they never once tried to rush us to get out of there. I'm sticking to my 5 stars cause I had a great experience.

Excellent food! By far the best meal I've had in Destin. We ordered the spicy beef salad, pad Thai, chicken fried rice and a soup. Everything was perfectly seasoned and so fresh!! I will definitely return. I'm only sad that we didn't discover this hidden gem sooner!!

Bad experience, take out order was wrong food when I arrived at home, 15 miles away. When I called questioning the take out order, the person on the phone spent their entire conversation denying wrong order and trying to convince me that I ordered the wrong food. I have eaten there dozens of times and always order the same item. The restaurant was wrong but would not admit it, offering that if I drove 30 miles to change they would consider exchanging. I hung up, disgusted and will never go back, there are too many other Thai restaurants in the area. A restaurant should concentrate on correcting their errors rather than argue.

Ate here while vacationing in Destin. I love Thai and have a favorite place I frequent often back home. Thai Elephant was good. The kids had the standards - tempura shrimp, pad Thai and Fried rice (which was surprisingly good). We had Fresh Rolls (which were) and Hot and Sour Chicken soup for starters - very good. We opted for the currys - Red and Yellow, both in medium spice. Very tasty. Others in our party enjoyed the Spicy Noodle (Pad Kee Mau). The Thai Ice Tea was a nice treat. Good Thai food - not over the top but then neither are their prices!

Never had Thai food before and this place was fantastic! It was so great, we came here to eat two nights in a row. Definitely did not disappoint! Will be back here! The waitstaff was pleasant and the atmosphere was quaint.

Being next to another Thai restaurant, I was glad my family chose Thai Elephant. Everything was very flavorful, especially the Paneang Curry. It was seasoned perfectly. My husband and kids also ordered the Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, and the Basil Seafood Platter. All were very flavorful. Prices seemed a bit high for the portion, but that seemed to be the only flaw. We will definately be back.

Far and away the best Thai I've ever had. We've been for 3 visits over the past 2 years, and it is everyone's favorite Destin restaurant. Considering what you get, the prices are ridiculously low. Great service, too, in this mom and pop operation.

Was in Destin for a mini family vacay and we were all craving rice. Or Asian food in general. My hub found this place from yelp. It was Probably the most authentic Thai food We have ever had. Everything was super flavorful. Got the beef basil extra spicy and boy did it have a kick my husband was sweating quite profusely! But he said it was a "good spice" only thing I would say it needed was more meat lol. A little stingy on the beef. But no complaints about anything else from that dish. We also got a chicken curry which was delish as well. Also extra spicy Thai chili definitely has a nice kick to it! The kids got chicken fried rice. It was the best fried rice ever!! Oh and order their sticky rice! It is so yummy! Their sweet tea is on point too!!!! We will miss this little restaurant for sure! Will definitely come back next year we visit Destin again!

Read the more recent reviews and you'll see that this place rocks. Really balanced flavors. I am turning vegan and their vegetarian noodles were so filling. Huge portions. Wife had a green chicken curry and papaya salad. Maybe a little spicier if you don't do spice. Definitely a place to check out and love!

This is a small locally owned place. We ordered 5 dishes and we're happy with one of the dishes. The red curry was good (not great) and we ate most of it. Everything else was left over. The pad Thai used noodles that are not typical. The basil eggplant had so much salt you couldnt taste much else. The basil Fried rice was one of those steamed white rice that was colored with brown sauce (not good). We were visiting from Austin and would not recommend this restaurant. Service - this is a small place and I believe the owner is also the waiter. There is only one waiter and so while we were ordering the phone started ringing so he had to leave us and go answer. Also, it took forever to pay as a few more customers came in after we arrived. We weren't to upset by this lack off staff becuase there were not too many people on a Monday evening. However, if there were more people this would definitely be a problem. Decor - the atmosphere of the restaurant is over crowded. There is a lot of "thai" stuff everywhere and I am sure it means a lot total he owner but it is a bit crowded. Also my son kept talking about the Christmas lights which was funny.

I have to say I really wanted to like this place. I met with an old friend of mine here and I was very disappointed in the food and the service. I also wasn't happy that it was the only meal I was going to be able to have with my friend since he was here for only one night. Service was incredibly so because there was only one guy for the 15+ people that were in there. The appetizers were merely ok, just like any other fast food Asian place. Our entrees came out one at a time for a table of four. So it was incredibly awkward as the first person had to eat while her food was hot, and the rest of us stared on. The entrees were only so-so, and definitely not worth being in that kind of atmosphere. I would recommend that you pass on this place unless you are just getting some late night take out.

Second time I have been here...dissatisfied over all, not an uber snob by any means but the food was very average and one waiter for a Friday night. Fresh roll had barely any shrimp, Thai tea was watered down and curry dish lacked real flavor...wife did the beef salad and it was just extremely fishy! Can't say we will be back! 2 stars for price only!
(2)Brooks W.
Super fast service. Awesome red curry. The spice was just what I needed to unclog my stuffy nose. The shrimp were huge. Two entrees and a desert for under $30. As good as the $100 meals we've had here in Destin, which were good too.
(5)Drew P.
Would definitely eat here again. My wife, son, and I stopped by here for dinner and were greeted with very friendly staff and VERY tasty food (with pretty large portions I may add). Great value for the money.
(4)Donna C.
Very good!! But needed to re-wipe table and condiments bottles, sticky and dirty. Good was fantastic!
(4)Jason S.
Good authentic thai food. The portions are huge so if you want you can split most of the dishes.
(4)Nina S.
Have to say this Thai restaurant is on point! I myself own a Thai restaurant in Nashville , so I am really impressed on the authentic food they served! Pompano deep fried was delicious! A must try! Can't wait to go back when I come back to visit again!
(4)Monty W.
I'm pretty particular when it comes to Pad Thai, I've tried it all over the country as we RV a lot. The Pad Thai was fantastic. I had the chicken, beef & shrimp. We also tried the Spring Rolls, which were also good. My husband had the noodle soup, which he liked a lot. We went on a Saturday, and they didn't have a lunch menu, so prices were a little high for lunch. But the portions were huge! Would definitely return, but probably during the week.
(5)Desiree D.
Excellent service! Unfortunately the food was not very good. I found the food to lack flavour. Everything was over cooked. The menu was not very extensive either.
(3)Suzi P.
We got our food go. It was very good! Vegetables and rice were cooked perfect. When it says Thai hot is their spiciest, it is the spiciest I have ever had anywhere! But I love spicy. So be careful on which level you choose. Great food!
(4)Karunya S.
Very good food.. Large portions. Went here at lunchtime on a saturday.. The waitress was very courteous. We ordered pad thai, cashew chicken, green curry and the penang curry. The green curry was the best followed by cashew chicken . The other 2 were good too. Highly recommend.

My husband and I came here for lunch on a weekday. The first issue - only one server for an almost full house. If the owners are too cheap to pay for at least two servers, it makes me wonder how else they they're cutting corners. We waited a few minutes to be seated (by the lone server) and found out its a seat yourself deal. 10 minutes later our drink and food orders were taken. My husband's canned coke arrived with a glass of half ice half melted ice. We both ordered pad thai which arrived fairly quickly. It wasn't terrible and wasn't great. I actually prefer Amy's frozen pad thai dinner. What did it for me was the walk to the bathroom and the sneak peak into the kitchen at the end of the meal. One word - filthy. I threw my leftovers away, chugged some some pepto, and will never return here.

My wife and I eat a lot of thai food and this is some of the best we have had! We split the spicy flavors of thai ( P8 on the menu) it was a nice blend of red curry with coconut milk and lots of vegetables with chicken. It was plenty for two people. The food was so flavorful. We would try it again! It is in a shopping center tucked back off the road. It is nothing special but when we were there it was busy with all locals!

Despite the numerous other good reviews I feel this place was supremely lacking in food quality & ambiance. We walked in to an empty restaurant with no employees to be found. We seated ourselves after grabbing a couple of menus off the hostess stand & began perusing the surprisingly large food selection. There was no music on for background noise, only the loud hum of the refrigerator in back & the faint sound of a drab announcer on Fox news. Our dishes were okay, but if you like "spicy" food be sure to ask for additional spices because these are not traditional spice levels. The "spicy" was a mild-medium at best. Overall the waitress was really nice, but a little absent. I can't say that I would ever recommend this place to a friend looking for good Thai food.

Visiting Destin for the first time. I'm a big Thai fan. This place offered a nice atmosphere and great food. I had Pad Thai, my daughter had Pad See Eew and my son had the Garlic Chicken. All were delicious!!!
(5)Pradip D.
These Guys are clean which i find in most of Thai restaurants ... The food was good and yummy ...I had fried rice with Red curry(should always have this with White plain rice), Then had a Soup with all Kinds of Sea food in it which was delicious....This was my second time here on my Vacation...and will definitely go back again :-)

As a tourist, one of the strange things that strike me about the Destin/Ft Walton area is the abundance of Thai restaurants here. They far outnumber the Japanese and Chinese restaurants and there's no presence of Vietnamese restaurants just based on driving along 98. Came here and has an authentic Thai vibe to it. By the register is an altar with all sorts of figurines including a crazy amount of Maneki Neko (good luck cat). Basil fried rice here is very good. I wish the Thai basil leaves were deep fried instead of just fried, but good nonetheless. Pad Thai here is decent but not spectacular. Pad Kee Mao is very good here. The type of noodles used is a little thinner than what I'm used to, but the flavor was spot on. Ordered the Penang curry, has a good amount of heat in the spicy curry. Sticky rice here is too dry. Lastly, ordered a crispy fried fish topped with chili and in a boat swimming in fish sauce. Very tasty! The waitress here is very nice and attentive. Next time I'm here, the fish, pad Kee Mao, and basil fried rice is all I need.

AWESOME FOOD!!!!!! I had the SP5 Glass Noodle and Shrimp (Pad Woon Sen) Glass noodles stir fried with eggs, carrots, celery, bean sprouts and scallions. The dish was excellent. I requested my food to be spicy and they delivered. Every Wednesday my family does take out from here. We have tried just about everything on the menu and we are always pleased.
(5)Tony J.
Considering the area, this place gets a 4 star. If I compared it to a less touristy area, I would say it is an honest 3.5 The noodle dishes were better than the rice dish - portions were huge but a little skimpy on the vegetables. Just remember that you don't have much choice from a food perspective in the Destin area. It's probably worth trying a few of the other menu options.

We love this place! We just moved here in March and we were looking for a decent Thai joint. This place totally hit the spot. Best Mussman I've ever had and a big serving too. I also dig the papaya salad, just be easy on the hotness level. I like it spicy but medium hot made my lips burn! The fresh spring rolls are legit too. Authentic & a great value.
(5)Griffin B.
Delicious food! very reasonable price too. This is tied for first place as the best tasting food I've had down here so far. Waitress was very nice. Shrimp pad Thai was so so good

This restaurant is quite the hidden gem! I don't live in the Miramar beach area, but any time I am around in the future, I will absolutely be stopping here. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed! The restaurant smelled fantastic, and the server was so sweet and polite. The meal was delicious! We ordered three plates, all under $10. The portions were generous, and the meal was delicious - - very authentic. (Try the panaeng curry!) Also, the sweet rice dessert was only $3.50, and worth trying. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Based on the price, quality of food and service I would normally have rated this place a 3.5. However, when we went there, my wife and I ordered a sit down meal. My wife ordered one of their rice noodle soups and was very pleased with it. She could not finish about half of it and decided to take it home for later. They kindly poured it into a to go cup for her. Our daughter met us there a bit before we were ready to leave and on my wife's recommendation ordered the exact same soup and size to go, from the very same menu. When we arrived back home, we noticed that her order was in the exact same size cup as my wife's leftover soup. The price was also the same as my wife's. We never called to ask why but have decided that we will not go back. There are too many other options in the neighborhood (including several other quality Thai restaurants) for us to bother. They were nice, but this seemed shady. So, if you go there and order to go be wary. Good quality and service though. Hope this is helpful. Take care.

This place was great!!!! Best thai food in destin. I got the pad thai beef and it was excellent, my gf got a curry dish with the same excellent result. Large portions, great thai tea, nice atmosphere. We ate at royal orchid 2 nights before this and it sucked, we went to thai delights and couldn't get service so we left and went to outback steakhouse lol (which was ok).
(5)Johnny C.
By far one of the worst thai food experience my family I ever had. The food is definitely not authentic and taste horrible. We order the pad thai, Masaman curry, and fish. They put way to much oyster sauce on the pad thai which made it very dark and salty. The Masaman curry was so gross. It was very thick and left and unpleasant after taste.

I've had Thai from all over the country including others parts of Florida and the food here has to be my least favorite. The tomkai soup tasted awful and the other entrees we ordered tasted average to subpar in comparison to other Thai places I've eaten... Will skip here next time I'm in town..

I have to admit my most recent experience at my favorite Thai Restaurant was extremely disappointing!! I ordered take-out from what was my favorite Thai restaurant which just so happens to be in Destin. My carryout order consisted of: Spring Rolls; Chicken Larb, Tom Yum with Shrimp, and the Sweet and Sour Chicken. The spring rolls weren't great thats for sure. Inside the Rolls many of the greens had browned. That signaled straight-up that it wasn't fresh. The chicken larb was the best thing we ordered and that wasn't the best either. The Tom Yum with Shrimp I started to eat at home. I caught myself constantly pulling things out of my mouth like hardened bamboo shoots. That is where I stopped eating the soup. I looked at the shrimp and they were very prune-like as if they had been sitting in the soup for too many days. Last but not least the sweet and sour chicken was completely different when we ordered it this time. Last time it was fried chicken and this time it was a sauteed sort of chicken. The sweet and sour chicken tasted a little funky too. How could this seriously happen? I use to love this place but after eating parts of that carry-out order that were not edible along with feeling like I was going to be sick the next morning when I woke up I am going to rethink ever dining at the Thai Elephant. I have heard of a place called the Thai Kitchen in Fort Walton that is supposed to be really great. I will try that next time. After my experience at Thai Elephant, I will not be going back for a very long time. Cheers and Enjoy!

We eat here when visiting the area and in the mood for Thai. The food is always very good. Service is also quick. We always start our meal with the fresh rolls that are just outstanding. Pad Thai portion is large and plenty for two.
(5)Kim D.
Great Thai food. A hidden gem. They accommodated our son's gluten free diet and even had gluten free soy sauce available. Great pad Thai, Thai beef salad, curry, and Pad Se Ew.
(5)Peter H.
Of all the Thai places around, this one is my favorite. It's as good, if not better than Royal Orchid, but cheaper, and it's way better than Jasmine Thai. It's always quiet and never crowded, and the servers are so sweet and attentive. Most of all, the food is fantastic and affordable. The last few times we've been, I've tried different things, but last night I had the yellow curry with pork and I don't think I'm ever going to order anything else. It was so effing delicious. Love this place.
(4)Van S.
I frequently dine at Thai Elephant, one of my favorite Thai restaurant in Destin. I love "tomyum-kung or shrimp soup, grilled garlic pork, fried rice, and pad-Thai." The restaurant is clean and waitress is very helpful and friendly.
(5)John A.
We were all alone on a Wed at 5pm. The food was excellent! We had the Garlic Pork special, PadThai, sweet/sour chicken, cashew chicken. The spring rolls were great as well
(4)Rod C.
Very good food! The restaurant was clean and the service was good. We had seven in our group and everyone liked their food. I would definitely recommend this place!
(5)Bryan K.
The Thai Elephant restaurant doesn't exactly catch ones attention. It's in a shopping center that doesn't appear to get a lot of traffic (that actually stops). I only knew of it by researching Yelp before my family's trip to Destin. Reviews were mixed but generally favorable, so we decided it was worth a try. The first night we considered going we changed our minds after seeing how few customers were there. That concerned us a little. We grabbed a menu just in case we wanted to consider it again ... which we did. We placed an order to go a couple of days later just to try a couple of menu items. We selected the Basil entree with a heat level of 1 and the Spicy Flavors of Thai with a heat level of 5. Both entrees were freshly prepared with typical strong flavors and texture/color combinations expected of Thai food. Event the heat level of 5 wasn't as spicy as we expected but still noticeably spicy. The food was good overall, and the price was reasonable at $9.95 per entree. The serving sizes weren't quite as large as we might have liked, but weren't skimpy either. If you want something different (not fresh seafood) while in Destin, I would recommend giving Thai Elephant a try.
(3)Jeremy L.
The menu is too big, but that is the only fault I could give the place. The food was excellent! As fresh as any Thai I've ever eaten, even in Thailand! If you're a fan of Thai cuisine, stop here for lunch or dinner, you'll thank me...
